Seawolves looking to secure playoff berth on senior day

Stony Brook, N.Y. - The Stony Brook women’s soccer team (6-8-3, 3-3-1 AE) will return to the comfort of LaValle Stadium on Sunday, Oct. 25, when they host UMBC (4-10-3, 2-3-2 AE) in a game that decides its playoff fate at 2 p.m. The Seawolves can clinch a playoff spot with a win or tie.

Scouting UMBC

The Retrievers enter the regular-season finale needing a win to earn a spot in the America East Postseason after losing at Binghamton Thursday night, 1-0. They are led by Gabby Boehmer and her six goals and one assist. Destinee Morris follows with three goals and an assist, while Amanda Dailey has scored two goals and added a team-high three assists. The Retrievers scoring offense ranks eighth in the conference, averaging 1.0 goals per game. They have been shut out six times.

Series History

The Seawolves are 8-5-2 all-time vs. UMBC. The teams played to a 1-1 tie last season.

Senior Day

Stony Brook will honor the contributions of its five-member senior class on Sunday. The class, consisting of Tessa Devereaux (Fayetteville, N.Y.), Raven Edwards (West Orange, N.J.), Danielle Fuller (Staten Island, N.Y.), Emily Murrer (Aptos, Calif.) and Priscilla Wiggins (Fresno, Calif.), has started 78 of 85 matches this year, accounting for 14 of the 19 Seawolves’ goals. They have combined for 33 goals and 27 assists over the last four seasons.

The Seawolves are unbeaten in their last eight home games, going 6-0-2 and outscoring their opponents 15-6. Over the last four seasons, they have recorded a record of 24-6-6 at LaValle Stadium, and are 10-4-1 in home conference matches during that span.
