Newark, N.J. - Senior Jameel Warney (Plainfield, N.J.) led all scorers with 20 points and three other starters added 15 apiece as the Stony Brook men's basketball team won its fourth straight game with a 83-61 win over NJIT Monday at the Fleisher Athletic Center.

Senior Carson Puriefoy (Wenonah, N.J.), junior Ahmad Walker (Port Washington, N.Y.) and sophomore Bryan Sekunda (State College, Pa.), each finished with 15 points.

Senior Rayshaun McGrew (Chicago, Ill.) added eight points as the starters accounted for 73 of the 83 points.

Stony Brook (8-4), which never trailed, shot 33 of 57 (.579) from the floor.

Chris Jenkins had 15 points off the bench for NJIT (7-6).

I thought we came ready to play and got off to a pretty good start. We did a great job sharing the game, passing off good shots to get better shots. NJIT is a talented team. We held them in the first half, but I knew they'd make a run, which they did in the second half. I liked our effort for 40 minutes.

We did a nice job executing early. Good teams like NJIT shoot the ball well so it was good to get out to a big lead. You try to get your teammates involved and affect the game in other ways. My shots started to fall in the second half and we were able to extend the lead.

Turning Point
The Seawolves scored the first 14 points of the game and led by double digits for the majority of the first half.

A three-point play from Puriefoy with 11:21 left in regulation gave the Seawolves their biggest lead of the game, 70-40.

• Walker and Puriefoy also had four assists.
• Stony Brook outrebounded NJIT, 37-24.
• Stony Brook finished with four scorers in double figures for the fifth time this season.

• The Highlanders were 4-for-16 (.250) from behind the arc in the first half.

News & Notes
• Warney reached the 20-point plateau for the fifth straight game. He's averaging 23.0 per game in that span.
• Walker finished with a double-double for a second straight game.
• Warney became the fourth player in school history, regardless of division, to reach 1,700 career points.
• NJIT's leading scorer Damon Lynn (18.5 ppg) was 0-for-6 from behind the arc in the first half. He made his only field goal with 12:18 left in regulation and finished with five points.
• Stony Brook has won all five games against NJIT at the Division I level.
• Tonight's game was the first against NJIT since November 28, 2009.
