Box Score Feb. 14, 2015
Final Stats
Thibodaux, La. - Redshirt sophomore Dan Zamora (La Puente, Calif.) threw five innings, allowing only one run, but Nicholls St. (1-1) broke a 1-1 tie with three runs in the seventh inning to down the Seawolves (1-1) 4-1.
Turning Point
The Colonels opened the bottom of the seventh inning with back-to-back singles to chase freshman Nick DiEva (Cherry Hill, N.J.) from the game with the game knotted at one. Junior Edwin Corniel (New York, N.Y.) would inherit both runners and allow them to eventually score after two Stony Brook errors. The Colonels would plate the game's final run with an RBI double.
Inside the Numbers
- The Seawolves opened the scoring in the first inning. Junior Jack Parenty (Wantagh, N.Y.) reached on an error and came home to score on an error on senior Robert Chavarria's (Garden Grove, Calif.) grounder to short.
- Zamora was stellar, striking out eight batters over five innings, while allowing five hits and a walk.
- Senior Cole Peragine (Belle Ewart, Ontario) recorded two of the Seawolves six hits. He was the only Stony Brook player to turn in a multi-hit performance.
- The Seawolves best scoring threat came in the top of the second inning. Freshman Bobby Honeyman (Massapequa, N.Y.) got the offense in motion when he reached on a Nicholls St. error. Parenty and Chavarria added two-out singles to load the bases but Peragine flew out to right to end the inning.
- DiEva (0-1) was dealt the loss but both of his runs allowed were unearned. Ryan Deemes (1-0) received the win after tossing three innings of shutout ball.
