Baseball Earns 8-4 Win Over Sacred Heart

Box Score March 25, 2015

Box Score

STONY BROOK, N.Y. - A big first inning by the Stony Brook baseball team (8-10) lead the Seawolves to an 8-4 victory over visiting Sacred Heart (1-14) in a rain-shortened game on Wednesday afternoon at Joe Nathan Field.

Quoting Head Coach Matt Senk
"I'm pleased with the fact that we ended up winning, but we are early in the year and we are still trying to figure some things out with our pitching staff and there are never enough at bats so it is about playing as much as possible. I'm happy with the win mostly because we scored seven runs in the first inning and it wasn't cheapened by the fact that the game was shortened, but it is about playing the game out."

Turning Point
After the Seawolves' starter Tim Knesik (Milford, Pa.) made quick work of Sacred Heart in the top of the first inning by setting them down in order, Stony Brook exploded for seven runs in the bottom half of the inning on five hits, including RBI singles by Jack Parenty (Wantagh, N.Y.), Johnny Caputo (Toronto, Ontario), Casey Baker (Ronkonkoma, N.Y.) and Toby Handley (Whitby, Ontario).
