Final Stats
Hempstead, N.Y. - Sophomore Lexie Shue (Lakewood, Calif.) hit a two-run homer to stake the Stony Brook softball team (19-12) to a 2-0 lead and junior Jane Sallen pitched a three-hit shutout to close the door as Stony Brook shutout Hofstra (23-10-1) 4-0 on Thursday evening in Hempstead.
Bryant's Reaction
"We played well today and Jane was dominant in the circle," said head coach Megan Bryant. "She got stronger as the game went on. We executed on offense, ran the bases aggressively and played solid defense."
Turning Point
Stony Brook's first eight hitters went down in order to open the game before junior Melissa Phelan's (Saddle Brook, N.J.) one-out single in the top of the third inning. Shue followed a batter later with her fourth home run of the year to put the Seawolves ahead 2-0.

- Sallen is 6-0 over her last eight appearances. The complete game shutout was her fifth of the year and she set a new career-high in wins with 12.

- The Seawolves have hit a home run in 20 of their last 22 games.
