STONY BROOK, N.Y. -- A seven-run eighth inning helped propel the Stony Brook baseball team past host Central Connecticut in a 12-6 victory on Wednesday afternoon at the CCSU Field.   
Sophomore SS Jeremy Giles (Claremont, Calif.) collected three hits and four RBI, including a three-run double that keyed the eighth inning for the Seawolves.

"Despite losing the lead we remained resilient, putting together a big seven run eighth inning highlighted by Jeremy Giles bases loaded double and Nick Brass closed the door on their offense. Overall it was a solid win" 
Turning Point
After CCSU scored four runs in the sixth and one in the seventh to take a 6-5 lead, Stony Brook rattled off seven runs in the top of the eighth inning to break the game open. Sophomore SS Jeremy Giles (Claremont, Calif.) got the inning started with a single and then capped the scoring with a three-run double. Junior LF Jack Parenty (Wantagh, N.Y.) added a two-run single in the inning. Junior RHP Nick Brass (Shirley, N.Y.) then shut down CCSU in the bottom half of the inning one-two-three and earned his first victory of the season.

- Freshman RF Andrew Gazzola (Coram, N.Y.) and sophomore SS Jeremy Giles (Claremont, Calif.) have each hit safely in the last nine games.
- Sophomore CF Toby Handley (Whitby, Ontario) has now hit safely in seven straight games and 11 of his last 12.
- Junior RHP Nick Brass (Shirley, N.Y.) picked up his first victory of the season, going 2.0 innings in relief and allowing a run on one hit.

Stony Brook returns to America East action this weekend with a three-game series at Albany. Saturday's doubleheader is scheduled for Noon with a single game slated for Sunday at Noon.
