Box Score

ALBANY, N.Y. -- The Stony Brook baseball team's (23-12, 12-2 AE) hot bats and solid pitching continued on Sunday afternoon enroute to a 12-2 victory over host Albany (11-19, 5-6 AE) at Varsity Field. The win marked the eighth straight America East Conference victory for the Seawolves.

Freshman 3B Bobby Honeyman (Massapequa, N.Y.) collected a career-best five hits, scored three times and drove in a run for the Seawolves, while sophomore CF Toby Handley (Whitby, Ontario) continued to swing the bat well with four more hits. Sophomore 1B Casey Baker (Ronkonkoma, N.Y.) added to his big weekend with a triple and a game-high three RBI.

Stony Brook's bullpen also continued to pitch well. The trio of junior RHP Chad Lee (San Dimas, Calif.), freshman RHP Nicholas DiEva (Cherry Hill, N.J.) and freshman LHP Teddy Rodliff (Quincy, Mass.) combined to allow just two hits in 5.2 innings of work.

Quoting Head Coach Matt Senk
"The offense set the tone today by scoring seven runs in the first three innings led by big days from Toby Handley, Casey Baker and Bobby Honeyman. However, you can't look past the terrific job Chad Lee did getting us out of a one out bases loaded jam and going on to throw three more scoreless innings for the win. Overall, it was a great weekend against an Albany team that was playing its best ball during conference weekends."

Turning Point
Stony Brook set the tone early by putting three runs on the board in the top of the first inning with three hits and RBIs from senior 2B Rob Chavarria (Garden Grove, Calif.), sophomore 1B Casey Baker (Ronkonkoma, N.Y.) and freshman DH Andruw Gazzola (Corham, N.Y.).
