Final Stats
Stony Brook, N.Y. - Senior Shayla Giosia (Runnemede, N.J.) hit her seventh home run of the season but it wasn't enough as the Stony Brook softball team (13-12, 2-1 AE) fell to the St. John's (14-13), 9-2.
Bryant's Reaction
"Today was a tough one for us," said head coach Megan Bryant. "I thought we started the game pretty locked in and just didn't continue it. We will put this one behind us and get ready for Hartford this weekend."
Turning Point
Giosia's home run in the second inning brought the Seawolves to within 3-1, but the Red Storm posted three runs in the third on two home runs to take a 6-1 lead.
Notes
- Giosia went 2-for-3 for her team-high eighth multi-hit game of the season.
- Junior Alexandra Pisciotta (New Hyde Park, N.Y.) went 0-for-4 to see her hitting streak halted at 18 games.
- Sophomore Lexie Shue (Lakewood, Calif.) singled in three at-bats. She has picked up a hit in each of her last five games and eight of her last nine.
- Junior Jane Sallen (Lake Worth, Fla.) pitched well in relief, allowing just an unearned run on two hits over four innings.
- The Seawolves, who have been stout defensively all season, committed a season-high three errors.
