Stony Brook ties Binghamton in weather shortend season finale

VESTAL, N.Y. -- The Stony Brook baseball team (31-14-1, 18-4-1 AE) closed out the regular season in odd fashion of Saturday afternoon, tying Binghamton (17-24-2, 6-16-1 AE) 4-4 in an America East contest at the Bearcats Sports Complex. The game was halted with two outs in the top of the ninth inning due to weather in the area.

Stony Brook will now head to Lowell, Massachusetts, for the America East Tournament as the No. 1 seed and face fourth-seeded Hartford in the opening game on Thursday at 1 p.m. at LeLacheur Park. (Tournament Central)

"Despite the game ending in an eight inning tie due to heavy rain, we were able to get a lot out of the contest in preparation for the upcoming conference tournament."

Turning Point
Trailing by a run entering the seventh inning, Stony Brook was able to it up at 4-4 after a leadoff walk by sophomore SS Jeremy Giles (Claremont, Calif.) who then came around to score on an RBI single by senior C Cole Peragine (Belle Ewart,Ontario).

Notes
- Stony Brook's bullpen of freshman RHP Nicholas DiEva (Cherry Hill, N.J.), junior RHP Chad Lee (San Dimas, Calif.) and junior RHP Nick Brass (Shirley, N.Y.) combined to throw 4.0 innings of two-hit baseball and did not allow a run.

- Junior LF Jack Parenty (Wantagh, N.Y.), who went 6-for-8 in Friday's added a 2-for-3 afternoon on Saturday for a .727 average in the series with six RBI and four runs scored.

- Senior C Cole Peragine (Belle Ewart, Ontario) has now started all 219 games in his Stony Brook career. His 219 games played ranks him third in the career record book at Stony Brook. He is also second in walks in a career with 116.

- Sophomore 1B Casey Baker(Ronkonkoma, N.Y.) knocked out three hits on Saturday to extend his hitting streak to 15 games.
