Box Score May 3, 2015

Box Score

STONY BROOK, N.Y. -- Despite a solid performance on the mound by sophomore Ryley MacEachern (Saugus, Ma.), the Stony Brook baseball team (24-14, 13-4 AE) couldn't hang on and Hartford (17-26, 8-11 AE) scored 10 runs in the final three innings to take the game, 12-10, and claim the series victory on Sunday afternoon at Joe Nathan Field.

MacEachern went 6.0 innings and allowed two runs on seven hits and struck out seven Hawks. He left the game with a 9-2 lead after the Seawolves posted three runs in the first and two in each the second, third and fourth innings.

Quoting Head Coach Matt Senk
"Offensively we really came out and swung it well and that might have been one of the better pitching performances from Ryley this year so those were positives. This is one of those games will only be really bad if we don't learn from it, but I think we will."

Game One Turning Point
After closing the gap to one run with a grand slam in the eighth inning, Hartford loaded the bases with no outs in the ninth and Joe Roberti cleared them with a single to right field that sparked a four-run inning for the Hawks.

Notes
- Junior LF Jack Parenty (Wantagh, N.Y.) and senior 2B Rob Chavarria (Graden Grove, Calif.) each collected a pair of hits, including one double each. Chavarria also drove in two runs.
-
Sophomore 1B Casey Baker (Ronkonkoma, N.Y.) went 3-for-4 with three RBI and a run scored.

Up Next
The Seawolves will head to Old Westbury, N.Y., to face NYIT in the final non-conference game of the regular season at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
