Stony Brook, - The Stony Brook softball team (28-15, 14-2) opens America East Championship play against Maine at University Field on Thursday at 1 p.m. The Seawolves earned the right to host by winning the America East regular-season championship, and will welcome Albany and Binghamton in addition to the Black Bears.
Scouting Maine
The fourth-seeded Black Bears (21-20, 10-7) are led by senior pitcher Alexis Bogdanovich, who led the conference in era (1.54), strikeouts (175) and opposing batting average (.193). Offensively, Felicia Lennon, Nikki Byron and Emj Fogel are all hitting above .300. Fogel leads the club with 27 rbi, while Janelle Bouchard has a team-high six home runs. Stony Brook took two of three at Maine in the regular-season, but its two wins were decided by a total of just three runs.
Scouting Albany
The Great Danes grabbed the two-seed with a 30-16 record and an 11-6 conference record. The two programs have met in the last two championships, each winning one. Three Albany players are batting above the .400 mark. Maggie Cocks leads the way with a .420 batting average and 46 rbi. Elizabeth Snow is hitting .408 with a team-best nine home runs and Vicky McFarland is hitting .400, leading the conference in hits (64) and runs scored (42). Erynn Sobieski owns a 10-5 record with a 2.70 era in the circle. The Seawolves took both games from the Great Danes in the regular season by scores of 8-3 and 7-3.
Scouting Binghamton
Binghamton (20-18, 10-6) will represent the three-seed. They come in hot, winning six of its last seven America East games. Opposing teams will need to pay close attention to junior Lisa Cadogan. She leads the conference in on-base pct. (.559) and rbi (48) and is second in batting average (.434) and slugging pct. (.830). Jessica Rutherford (.352) and Sydney Harbaugh (.347) are also dangerous hitters. Cara Martin is the team's top pitch with a 10-4 record and 3.57 era.
Seawolves Notes
- Senior Bria (Wheatley Heights, N.Y.) etched her name in the Stony Brook record book with her 18th homer of the season, passing Hayley Durham's single-season record set in 2006. Green could capture another record this weekend as she is just two rbi shy of the single-season rbi mark of 50, set by Kristen Brust in 2004. Green currently leads the America East in home runs (18), rbi (48), slugging pct. (.992), batting average (.444) and total bases (123).
- Senior Shayla Giosia (Runnemede, N.J.) set a career-high with eight rbi on her senior day vs. UMBC, bringing her season-total to 43. She is one rbi shy of tying Durham as the Stony Brook career rbi leader.
- Senior Allison Cukrov has been lights out in conference play. She is 8-1 with a 1.11 era in 11 starts. 
- The Stony Brook offense has posted impressive power numbers, ranking first in the America East in home runs with 59. The 2015 Seawolves broke the Stony Brook single-season team home run record of 47 with Giosia's seventh inning home run vs. Seton Hall.  They rank 23rd in the nation, averaging 1.37 home runs per game. Green leads the conference with 18 home runs, while senior Giosia is second with 12. Nine different players have registered a home run this season.
- The Seawolves have won 13 consecutive conference series dating back to 2013 when they were swept by Binghamton. Since then, they are 30-4 in regular-season conference games.
