STONY BROOK, N.Y. – The Stony Brook women's soccer team battled for the entire night but was unable to advance in the America East Playoffs as the game was decided on penalty kicks and the Vermont Catamounts move on. The Seawolves finish a very successful season at 9-8-3 on the year as they made their first playoff appearance since 2013. Vermont heads to the semifinals with a 7-7-4 record.
Faherty's Reaction
"I thought we played well, I thought Vermont played well," said head coach
Brendan Faherty. "I thought that both teams were really well organized defensively and it was tough for either team to get in behind either back four. It seemed like that was really the difference in the game for us, because when we have had success we've been able to get in behind teams and we just weren't able to do that. We took quite a few corner kicks but we weren't as dangerous as I would have liked on them. When the game comes down to PKs it's kind of like a coin toss."
