CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. – The Stony Brook men's basketball team came back from being down 23 points in the first half to get within four with under a minute to play, but was unable to close out against Boston College, falling 82-75 at Conte Forum Sunday afternoon. The Seawolves drop to 0-2 on the year, while the Eagles move to 2-1 after the matinee game.

"It was a good fight," said head coach Jeff Boals. "Obviously we aren't into moral victories, that's not what this program is about, but once we consistently get that attitude that we showed in the second half and that we showed against Columbia it will get better. This team doesn't have a big margin for error. I love the fight that we showed."
Highlights
- Junior Tyrell Sturdivant (Chester, Pa.) led the Seawolves with a career-high 26 points, 16 of which came in the second half.
- Both teams got out to a slow start in the game, but things remained close until a scoring lull plagued the Seawolves midway through the first half. Stony Brook scored just four field goals in the final 10 minutes of the first half, which allowed Boston College to get out in front by double figures.
- Sturdivant put up 10 points in the first half, but didn't have a rebound as the Eagles doubled up Stony Brook on the boards.
- The Seawolves came out stronger in the second half and eventually got back within single digits, using an 11-2 run that was capped off with a three-point play from Roland Nyama (Frankfurt, Germany).
- With 5:15 left in the game, after the Seawolves allowed Boston College to go back up by 18, Sturdivant went off to score 13 of the next 15 points, making it a four-point game with 54 seconds to play.
- Stony Brook was forced to foul as the clock ticked down and was unable to counter as the Eagles didn't miss a free throw down the stretch.
Notes
- The Seawolves had just seven turnovers in the game, marking the second-straight game they have made 10-or-fewer mishaps.
- After scoring just one point in the first half, redshirt freshman Akwasi Yeboah (Chigwell, England) finished with 10 points, scoring in double figures for the second time this season.
- Senior Lucas Woodhouse (Greenlawn, N.Y.) also came alive in the second half for the Seawolves and finished with nine points and seven assists.
