Winter Park, Fla. – A career night from sophomore
Davion Wingate (Atlanta, Ga.) and a dominant second quarter propelled the Stony Brook women's basketball team to an 80-49 win over Florida A&M Tuesday night at the Florida Sunshine Classic. With the win – the third straight for Stony Brook – the Seawolves even their record at 5-5, while the Rattlers drop to 1-9.

Turning Point
The game was tied at 21 in the opening seconds of the second quarter before a 14-0 run by the Seawolves spanning over seven minutes opened up a 35-21 lead. Stony Brook would hold Florida A&M to six points in the quarter to take a 42-24 lead into the locker room.
By the Numbers
- Wingate led all scorers with a career-high 25 points including a trio of three-pointers and a 10-for-10 performance from the free-throw line to go along with a career-best four steals. The sophomore guard had a pair of 19-point outings as a freshman.
- The Seawolves outscored the Rattlers 21-6 in the second quarter.

Christa Scognamiglio (Orangeburg, N.Y.) joined Wingate in double figures with 12 points on four three-pointers.

Kori Bayne-Walker (Rochester, N.Y.) tallied five assists, bringing her to 382 for her career. Bayne-Walker is 35 assists shy of Mykeema Ford's program career assists record of 417.
- Stony Brook made 11 three-pointers in the contest, matching a season-high set at Central Connecticut (Dec. 11).
- The Seawolves made 19 free-throws, tying a season-best accomplished vs. Syracuse (Nov. 18) and at Manhattan (Nov. 26).
Notes
- The 80 points were a season-best, eclipsing a pair of 64-point outputs vs. Hofstra (Nov. 14) and Central Connecticut (Dec. 11).
- The Seawolves reached 80 points for the first time since Nov. 21, 2014 vs. Columbia, a game Stony Brook won 82-68.
- The 42 first-half points were the most this season.
- The margin of victory (31) was the most since a 69-35 win Nov. 20, 2015 at Saint Peter's.
- Wingate was in double-figures in scoring for the fifth time in her last eight games.
- The Seawolves improve to 14-5 against the MEAC in the Division I era.
- Freshman
Oksana Gouchie-Provencher (Ontario, Canada) made her collegiate debut in the victory, tallying one point and one rebound.
