Caruso has big day in 11-3 loss at Fairfield

Fairfield, Conn. - Senior Diane Caruso (Middletown, N.Y.) had two hits, including her first home run of the season, in an 11-3 loss at Fairfield on Thursday.

Turning Point

Caruso's two-run homer in the top of the third gave the Seawolves a 3-2 lead, but it was short-lived as Fairfield tied the game in the bottom of the third and added six runs in the bottom of the fourth to roll to the victory in five innings.

Notes

  • Freshman Irene Rivera (Sylmar, Calif.) drove in Caruso with a double in the top of the first inning. 
  • Caruso finished 2-for-3 with two hits, two runs and two rbi. Her homer was her seventh of her career.
  • Rivera joined Caruso with two hits.
  • Sophomore Caroline Seeberg's  (Warwick, N.Y.) single in the fourth inning was the first of her career.
  • Senior Kellie Reynolds (Paso Robles, Calif.) also had a hit and scored a run. 
  • Only three of Fairfield's 11 runs were earned as the Stags capitalized on two Stony Brook errors.
