BALTIMORE, MD. - In a tale of two games on Friday afternoon, the Stony Brook baseball team split an America East Conference double header against UMBC at Alumni Field. The Seawolves (7-9, 1-1 AE) took game one 15-10 and the Retrievers (6-10, 1-1 AE) walked-off with a 2-1 victory in game two.
Sophomore 1B Andruw Gazzola (Coram, N.Y.) posted six hits in nine at-bats in the two games with five runs scored. Senior 2B Jack Parenty (Wantagh, N.Y.), freshman DH Dylan Resk (Ardsley, N.Y.) and senior 3B Johnny Caputo (Toronto, Ontario) each had a three-hit performance in game one.
Senior RHP Chad Lee (San Dimas, Calif.) earned the victory in game one and he tossed 4.1 innings in relief and allowed just one run on four hits.

Game One Turning Point
The Seawolves used four extra base hits, including home runs by junior C David Real (Chandler, Ariz.) and senior 3B Johnny Caputo (Toronto, Ontario), to score early and often against UMBC with a single run in the first, three runs in the second, a four spot in the third and two runs in the fourth. Real boosted Stony Brook's lead to 4-0 with a three-run homer in the second, while Caputo gave the Seawolves a 10-6 lead with his two-run blast in the fourth.
Game Two Turning Point
UMBC plated a run in the sixth inning to tie the score 1-1 before winning the game with a walk-off two-out single in the seventh inning.
Notes
- Sophomore 1B Andruw Gazzola (Coram, N.Y.) collected four hits in game one and a pair of hits in game two to extend his hitting streak to 10 straight games.
- Junior C David Real (Chandler, Ariz.) hit his first collegiate home run in the second inning of game one. It was a three-run shot that gave the Seawolves a 4-0 lead.
- Senior 3B Johnny Caputo (Toronto, Ontario) hit his second home run of the season and fifth of his career with a two-run shot in the fourth inning.
- Senior RHP Chad Lee (San Dimas, Calif.) picked up his second win of the season and 10th win of his career in game one. He tossed 4.1 innings and surrendered one run on four hits.
- The Seawolves banged out a season-high 20 hits in game one, including four doubles, a triple and two home runs.

The Seawolves face the Retrievers in the series rubber game at 3 p.m. on Saturday. Stony Brook then will visit Fairfield, Conn., for a single game against Sacred Heart at 3 p.m. on Tuesday.
