Stony Brook bounces back for victory over Elon

ELON, N.C. - It was timely hitting and solid pitching that led the Stony Brook baseball team to a 4-1 victory over Elon on Saturday afternoon on the second day of the Elon Tournament at Latham Park.

The Seawolves (3-6) rattled off nine hits in the victory. Junior RF Casey Baker (Ronkonkoma, N.Y.) recorded his second three-hit game of the season, including RBI singles in the fifth and seventh innings. Sophomore 1B Andruw Gazzola (Coram, N.Y.) and sophomore SS Bobby Honeyman (Massapequa, N.Y.) and each added a pair of hits for the Seawolves.

Senior LHP Tyler Honahan (Parker, Colo.) picked up his second win of the season. He tossed 6.2 innings, allowed one hit and struck out seven batters. Senior RHP Chad Lee (San Dimas, Calif.) closed out the game by setting the Phoenix down in the ninth to earn his first career save.&nbsp;

Turning Point
Andruw Gazzola smashed a double into left center field with one out in the top of the fifth inning. Two batters later Casey Baker singled up the middle, scoring Gazzola from second for the first run of the game and give the Seawolves the lead they would not relinquish.&nbsp;

"Our pitching set the tone today. Tyler Honahan had a superb start along with Chad Lee's three strike out ninth for the save. Timely hitting and solid defense helped complete a terrific overall team win."

Notes
- Senior LHP Tyler Honahan (Parker, Colo.) picked up his second win of the season and the 17th win of his career. He now sits tied for seventh on Stony Brook's all-time list and fifth on the Seawolves' Division I list.

- Sophomore SS&nbsp;Bobby Honeyman&nbsp;(Massapequa, N.Y.)&nbsp;collected a pair of singles and extended his career-long hitting streak to nine games (Each game of the season). He has also now reached base safely in 19 straight games, including the final 10 games of the 2015 season.
- Junior CF&nbsp;Toby Handley&nbsp;(Whitby, Ontario)&nbsp;walked in the seventh inning and has now reached base safely in 11 straight games (All nine this season and the final two of the 2015 season).&nbsp;

- Senior RHP Chad Lee (San Dimas, Calif.) earned his first career save in the win.&nbsp;
