Box Score

NEW ROCHELLE, N.Y. – The Stony Brook baseball team’s streak of 21 straight midweek victories came to an end on Tuesday afternoon with a 7-0 loss to Iona at City Park.

The Seawolves (17-15, 7-3 AE) had not dropped a midweek game since April 22, 2014, a span of almost two years.

The Gaels (8-25) posted a five-run fourth inning and had five pitchers combined to allow just five hits.

Turning Point
In the bottom of the first inning, Iona’s second batter of the game, Travis Mistretta, reached on a walk and came around to score when the next batter, Sean Breen, slapped a double into left-center. The run would prove to be all the Gaels’ needed for the victory.

Notes
- Senior 2B Jack Parenty (Wantagh, N.Y.) singled in eighth inning for his 233rd career hit, moving him into a fifth-place tie with former teammate Cole Peragine (2012-15) on Stony Brook’s career hits list.
- Sophomore RHP Nicholas DiEva (Cherry Hill, N.J.) struck out six batters in his two innings of work on Tuesday.

Up Next
The Seawolves visit Bryant for a three-game series with single games on Friday, Saturday and Sunday.
