Game One Box Score | Game Two Box Score

STONY BROOK, N.Y. - The Stony Brook baseball team got back on track Saturday afternoon by sweeping an America East Conference doubleheader against visiting Maine at Joe Nathan Field.

The Seawolves (10-12, 3-1 AE) came away with an 11-0 victory in game one against the Black Bears (5-20, 0-5 AE) and then earned a 2-1 walk-off win in game two.

Stony Brook belted out 10 hits in game one. Junior C David Real (Chandler, Ariz.) led the way with three hits, including a double and triple, while junior SS Jeremy Giles (Claremont, Calif) and junior RF Casey Baker (Ronkonkoma, N.Y.) each had a pair of hits.

Senior RHP Chad Lee (San Dimas, Calif.) earned his third win of the season in game one after he tossed 6.0 innings and allowed four hits. Sophomore LHP Teddy Rodliff (Quincy, Mass.) picked up a three-inning save.

Freshman DH Dylan Resk (Ardsley, N.Y.) collected two of the Seawolves seven hits in game two. Sophomore RHP Aaron Pinto (West Covina, Calif.) picked up his first collegiate win by throwing one pitch to get out of the seventh inning.

Quoting Head Coach Matt Senk
"It's never easy to sweep a doubleheader and they (Maine) competed and their starting pitching was really tough. We were able to get to the first guy and then the second guy gave them a great outing as well. Our overall pitching really went toe-to-toe with them and kept them off the board. That allowed us to finally get the bats going in the first game and push one across in the bottom of the seventh in the second game."

Game One Turning Point
It was the Stony Brook bats the seemed to be the advantage in game one, but the turning point of the game came when the Seawolves were in the field. After SBU plated three runs in bottom of the sixth inning, Maine opened the seventh with a leadoff walk and double off starter Chad Lee, but Teddy Rodliff quickly extinguished the threat by setting the next three Black Bears down in order with a pair of strike outs and a ground out.

Game Two Turning Point
With the score tied 1-1 entering the bottom the seventh inning, sophomore 3B Bobby Honeyman (Massapequa, N.Y.) led the inning off with a single to center field. Honeyman then advanced to second on a sacrifice bunt by senior 1B Johnny Caputo (Toronto, Ontario), reached third on a wild pitch, and then beat the throw home to score the winning run when Jeremy Giles hit a chopper back up the middle.
