Box Score
SMITHFIELD, R.I. – Despite a 15-hit effort, including the first career home run by freshman DH Dylan Resk (Ardsley, N.Y.), the Stony Brook baseball team fell to Bryant 14-5 in the first game of a three-game series on Friday afternoon at Conaty Park.
Resk also doubled in the loss for his two hits for the Seawolves (17-16, 7-3 AE), while senior 2B Jack Parenty (Wantagh, N.Y.) and junior RF Casey Baker (Ronkonkoma, N.Y.) each collected three hits. The Bulldogs (26-7, 13-1 NEC) had 14 hits, including a pair of home runs.
Quoting Head Coach Matt Senk
"Despite the fact we swung the bats well throughout the game, not scoring early when we had the opportunities hurt us as well as too many mental mistakes and free bases that contributed to their big innings."
Turning Point
Stony Brook posted four runs in the top of the third inning, but Bryant bounced right back with a two-run home run by Robby Rinn in the bottom half of the inning. The Bulldogs then took the lead for good when they posted four runs in the fourth inning.
Notes
- Senior 2B Jack Parenty (Wantagh, N.Y.) had three hits on the afternoon to move him into fourth-place on Stony Brook’s career hits list with 236. He is eight hits away from third place.
- Freshman DH Dylan Resk (Ardsley, N.Y.) blasted his first collegiate home run over the LC wall to lead off the seventh inning.
