Stony Brook, N.Y. - The Stony Brook softball team (22-21-2, 9-5 AE) put an end to its four-game losing streak with a 5-4 victory over Seton Hall (24-25, 7-7 Big East) on Thursday afternoon.
Bryant's Reaction
"It was a good win," said head coach Megan Bryant. "We have had a good couple days of practice this week and I think it showed today in our situational hitting and execution."
Turning Point
Stony Brook led 3-2 in the bottom of the fourth inning when freshman Irene Rivera (Sylmar, Calif.) laced a two-run double off the left-center wall, the second time she drove a ball off the wall in the game. Stony Brook's 5-2 lead was trimmed to 5-4 through five innings, but senior Jane Sallen (Lake Worth, Fla.) pitched scoreless sixth and seventh innings to lift the Seawolves to victory.

- Senior Allie Pisciotta's (New Hyde Park, N.Y.) leadoff homer in the first inning was her team-leading eighth of the season.
- Sophomore Maddy Neales improved to 8-7 on the season, allowing two unearned runs in four innings.
- Sallen notched her fourth save, a career-high, working the final three innings and allowing two runs.
- Senior Kellie Reynolds (Paso Robles, Calif.) joined Rivera with two hits, doubling in the sixth inning. Her batting average is at a career-best mark of .307.
- The Seawolves improved to 10-3-1 at home this season.
- Stony Brook turned two double plays on Seton Hall's best hitter, Alexa Waldken, the second a 1-6-3 double play to end the game with Waldken representing the go-ahead run.
- The Seawolves are 13-6-1 when hitting at least one home run.
- Head coach Megan Bryant recorded her 799th career win. She is looking to become the 26th active coach to join the 800 win club.
