STONY BROOK, N.Y. - The Stony Brook baseball team came away with the sweep of Saturday afternoon's doubleheader against visiting UMBC in dramatic fashion thanks to a walk-off victory in game two at Joe Nathan Field.
The Seawolves (19-19, 9-3 AE) trailed the Retrievers (19-20, 7-9 AE) 2-1 heading to the bottom of the seven of game two and plated a pair of runs thanks to a leadoff double by freshman LF Dylan Resk (Arsdley, N.Y.), a walk to junior RF Casey Baker (Ronkonkoma, N.Y.), a game-tying single up the middle by sophomore 3B Bobby Honeyman (Massapequa, N.Y.) that scored Resk and a pinch-hit bloop single down the RF line by junior David Real (Chandler, Ariz.) that scored Baker.
Sophomore RHP Aaron Pinto (West Covina, Calif.) picked up the win in game two after relieving freshman starter Bret Clarke (Royersford, Pa.). Clarke went 5.0 innings of work and struck out a career-high and Stony Brook season-high 10 batters.
Senior RHP Chad Lee (San Dimas, Calif.) went 8.0 solid innings to earn the win in game one. He allowed just one run on three hits for his fifth win of the year. Sophomore LHP Teddy Rodliff (Quincy, Ma.) recorded his sixth save of the year by pitching a scoreless ninth.
Quoting Head Coach Matt Senk
"This was a tremendous effort today. Chad (Lee) and Bret (Clarke) set the tone again and Aaron (Pinto) and Teddy (Rodliff) had terrific relief appearances. I loved the toughness we showed to come back in our last at-bat to win the game. Any sweep is big, but this one was really special, doing it in walk-off fashion."
Game One Turning Point
Stony Brook scored the go-ahead run on an RBI single by junior SS Jeremy Giles (Claremont, Calif.) that plated junior C David Real (Chandler, Ariz.) who had singles earlier in the inning. That run gave the Seawolves a 2-1 lead, one they would hold on to the rest of the game.

After UMBC scored a go-ahead run in the bottom of the seventh inning, Stony Brook charged back to score two runs in the bottom half of the inning and take the game in walk-off fashion.
