Seawolves roll to 11-3 win over Fairleigh Dickinson

Box Score April 5, 2016

Final Stats

Stony Brook, N.Y. - Senior Kim Ragazzo (Lawrence, N.J.) went 3-for-4 with three rbi as the Stony Brook softball team (12-17-1, 3-2 AE) cruised to an 11-2 win over Fairleigh Dickinson at University Field on Tuesday afternoon.

Bryant's Reaction

"We have started to play some good ball of late," said Bryant. "I liked our approach and execution at the plate today. We were aggressive early in counts and did a good job of moving runners over and driving them in."

Turning Point

Stony Brook broke the game open with a five-run third inning. The Seawolves led 2-1 entering the bottom of the third before scratching across five runs on three hits and a Fairleigh Dickinson error. Ragazzo delivered a one-out, two-run single to push the lead from 2-1 to 4-1 and seniors Allie Pisciotta (New Hyde Park, N.Y.) and Kellie Reynolds (Paso Robles, Calif.) added rbi doubles.

Notes

  • Senior Jane Sallen (Lake Worth, Fla.) picked up her ninth win of the season, allowing two runs on two hits in four innings.
  • Reynolds reached base in all four at-bats, drawing two walks and a hit-by-pitch to go along with her double. She scored two runs.
  • Senior Diane Caruso (Middletown, N.Y.) plated Stony Brook's first run of the game with an rbi double in the bottom of the first.
  • Freshman Irene Rivera (Sylmar, Calif.) followed with an rbi single to left.
  • Junior Sami Duffy (Carmel, N.Y.) went 1-for-1 with an rbi sac fly.
  • Senior Patty Borges (Berkley, Mass.) ended the game with a two-run single in the bottom of the fifth, making the score 11-3.
  • Pisciotta dazzled behind home plate, throwing out three base runners. Two were caught stealing second and one was picked off of first base.
