STONY BROOK, N.Y. – The Stony Brook baseball team used 16 hits to score 15 runs and received solid pitching to earn a 15-4 victory over visiting Iona at Joe Nathan Field on Tuesday afternoon.
The Seawolves (11-12, 3-1 AE) used five pitchers, including starter freshman Bret Clarke (Royersford, Pa.) who picked up his third victory of the season with two innings of one-hit work.
Six of Stony Brook’s position players recorded multi-hit games, including three-hit performances from junior CF Toby Handley (Whitby, Ontario) and sophomore LF Andruw Gazzola (Coram, N.Y.). Freshman DH Dylan Resk (Ardsley, N.Y.) added a pair of hits with three runs and two RBI.

Turning Point
After Iona cut the deficit to 3-2 with a pair of runs in the top of the fourth inning, Stony Brook sent 11 batters to the plate in the bottom of the inning and plated seven runs to break the game open.
Notes
- The Seawolves have now won 19 straight mid-week games dating back to April 22, 2014.
- Stony Brook’s 15 runs equals the highest output of the season. The Seawolves also posted 15 runs in the game one win at UMBC.
- Senior RHP Tim Knesnik (Milford, Pa.) pitched the ninth inning for his 62nd appearance, of his career. He sits in fourth place on Stony Brook’s career list.
- Freshman RHP Bret Clarke (Royersford, Pa.) pitched two innings of work and earned his third win of the season. He allowed just one hit and struck out three.
