Stony Brook survives elimination with victory over UAlbany

LOWELL, Ma. – The Stony Brook baseball, the No. 3 seed in the America East Conference Championship, team staved off elimination with a 10-4 victory over fifth-seeded UAlbany on Friday afternoon at LeLacheur Park thanks to 15 hits, including three hits by junior SS Jeremy Giles (Claremont, Calif.) and a two-run home run by senior 1B Johnny Caputo (Toronto, Ontario).

Senior RHP Tim Knesnik (Milford, Pa.) earned the victory, his first of the season, after he scattered four hits over 2.1 innings of work. Senior LHP Tyler Honahan (Parker, Colo.) went 6.2 innings in the start and struck out nine in a no-decision.

Stony Brook (26-26) advanced to face second-seeded Hartford in another elimination game on Wednesday night at approximately 8:40 p.m.
