Orlando, Fla. - The Stony Brook volleyball team opened the season with two matches at the Holiday Inn Orlando East/UCF Invitational, as the Seawolves defeated Stetson after falling to UCF.

The Seawolves fell in three sets to host UCF (17-25, 19-25, 19-25) in both teams' season opener Friday afternoon at The Venue at UCF.

Brooks (Blasdell, N.Y.) led the Seawolves with 10 kills.
- Junior
Melann Amory (Center Valley, Pa.) had a team-high 13 digs while serving as the libero.

Morgan Kath (Muskego, Wis.) tallied 30 assists and five digs.
- The Seawolves were outhit .370-.231 in the match.

- The Seawolves are now 2-2 in season openers under Coach Pawlikowski.

Stony Brook 3, Stetson 0
The Seawolves picked up their first victory of 2016 with a sweep of Stetson (25-15, 25-12, 25-16) Friday evening at The Venue at UCF. With the win, the Seawolves improve to 1-1, while the Hatters fall to 0-2.

Jordan Gels (Lewis Center, Ohio) tallied 13 digs, seven kills, and three aces in the victory.

Emily Costello (Webster, N.Y.) and Abby Hickey (Dekalb, Ill.) returned to the floor Friday evening for the Seawolves after missing the 2015 season due to injury.
- The Seawolves' .402 team hitting percentage was the best since Stony Brook hit .409 against UMass Lowell on Oct. 30, 2015.
