Albany, N.Y. - The Stony Brook women's soccer team (3-7-2, 0-1 AE) dropped its conference opener to defending America East champion Albany (4-7, 1-1 AE) 4-0 on Thursday night.

"Full credit to Albany tonight," said head coach
Brendan Faherty. "They had a game plan and it exposed some of our weaknesses. We look forward to returning to LaValle on Sunday for our match against Binghamton.
Highlights
- Vivian Vega opened the scoring in the 35th minute, scoring off a corner kick from close range.
- Meghan Kavanaugh gave the Great Danes a 2-0 lead, scoring off a cross in the 53rd minute.
- Kavanugh added a second goal in the 68th minute with a right-footed shot inside the far post.
- Caitlyn Paltsios finished the scoring with a left-footed goal in the 80th minute.
Notes
- Albany outshot Stony Brook 19-15 for the match and 12-8 in the second half.
- Senior Priscilla Wiggins (Fresno, Calif.) led the Seawolves with four shots and two shots on goal. Senior Lindsay Hutchinson (Millersville, Pa.) and junior Christen Cahill (Pembroke, Mass.) each recorded three shots and two shots on target.
- Junior Shannon Robinson (Stony Point, N.Y.) made seven saves.
- The Seawolves fell to 1-6 on the road this season.
- Stony Brook was shut out for the sixth time this season.
