Seawolves defeated by No. 21 Louisville, Santa Clara

Louisville, Ky. - The Stony Brook volleyball team fell to No. 21 Louisville and Santa Clara in the second day of the Active Ankle Challenge Saturday at the KFC Yum! Center. Following the defeats, the Seawolves stand at 1-6 on the year.

Stony Brook was downed by the host Cardinals in four sets (25-27, 8-25, 25-22, 19-25) prior to the three-set defeat at the hands of the undefeated Broncos (22-25, 20-25, 18-25).

By the Numbers
- Sophomore McKyla Brooks (Blasdell, N.Y.) had 12 kills to lead the Seawolves in the Louisville match and added 10 in the nightcap against Santa Clara.
- Sophomore Taylor Wilson (Corydon, Ind.) was tied for the team-high with 10 kills vs. the Broncos.
- Sophomore Morgan Kath (Muskego, Wis.) tallied a season-high 39 assists in the Santa Clara match.
- Freshman Liz Pulver (Temecula, Calif.) notched nine kills in each match.
- Freshman Kardasia Hitchcock (Alexander City, Ala.) had 10 digs against the Cardinals and 12 vs. the Broncos.
- Freshman LeAnne Sakowicz had career-highs in kills (7) and digs (9) against Santa Clara.

Notes
- Brooks was named to the Active Ankle Challenge all-tournament team for her efforts on the weekend.
- The Seawolves fall to 0-2 in four-set matches with the loss to Louisville and 1-4 in three-set matches after the Santa Clara defeat.
- Sakowicz made her first career start against Santa Clara.
- Redshirt-sophomore Abby Hickey (Dekalb, Ill.) appeared in five of seven sets Saturday. Hickey missed the 2015 season due to injury and previously played in the Stetson match (Aug. 26).
