STONY BROOK, N.Y. -- In a rare midweek doubleheader with the women's basketball team, the Stony Brook men's team will also host New Hampshire Wednesday night. Game time is set for 7 p.m., but will begin 30 minutes after the conclusion of the 5 p.m. women's game. Both the Seawolves and Wildcats are looking to bounce back from losses over the weekend as Stony Brook fell to unbeaten Vermont and New Hampshire was outlasted in double overtime at UMBC. This is the third straight home game for the Seawolves, while the Wildcats have played three of their last four on the road.

NOTEWORTHY

- The Seawolves started America East play with five straight wins for the third time in program history, all three times coming over the last four seasons.

- The Seawolves sit at 7-2 over their last nine games.

- Tyrell Sturdivant is averaging 15.3 points and 5.6 rebounds per game in league play.

- Lucas Woodhouse ranks fourth in the nation in free throw percentage, making his first 30 free throw attempts in America East games. He is currently shooting 66.7-percent from beyond the arc in America East play.

Akwasi Yeboah notched the first double-double of his career with 15 points and 10 boards in the win over UMBC.

- UC Iroegbu gave the Seawolves a spark off the bench against UMBC in his best performance of the year. He finished with 12 points and five rebounds.

- Stony Brook has limited itself to single-digit turnovers nine times this season, committing 10 or fewer on 13 occasions, tied for 29th in the nation in turnover margin.

- Stony Brook has seen 10 of its 20 games so far this season be decided in the final minute of play.

THE OPPONENT

New Hampshire enters the midweek game at 14-8 on the year, 5-3 in America East play. The Wildcats recently ended a three-game win streak as they fell at UMBC 105-103 in double overtime on Saturday afternoon. America East Player of the Week Tanner Leissner put up 36 points in game, while Iba Camara and Jaleen Smith both added double-doubles. Camara finished with 23 points and 14 rebounds, Smith had 21 points and 10 assists. Despite the loss, it marked the third straight game with 20-plus points for Smith.

Camara and Leissner are two of the top three rebounders in the league, while Daniel Dion leads the league and is tied for 33rd in the nation averaging 3.0 three-points per game.

THE SERIES

The Seawolves lead the series with the Wildcats 17-16 after Stony Brook opened conference play with a 59-56 win in Durham earlier this year. Tyrell Sturdivant led the way for the Seawolves with 20 points, including the game-winner with 15 seconds remaining on the clock. Lucas Woodhouse got a hand on New Hampshire's final attempt to seal the victory.

The two teams first met on Nov. 29, 2000 as Stony Brook claimed a 67-60 win on the road. The Seawolves have the edge in the series at home, 9-6, and have taken 11 of the last 13 match ups.

LAST TIME OUT

Stony Brook was unable to give Vermont its first loss of league play, falling 71-64. Play remained close for the opening minutes of the game, but the shots were not falling for the Seawolves nearing the midway point in the first half.

The Catamounts stretched the lead to as many as 17 points late in the first half, but Stony Brook scored eight straight in the final two minutes of the half to make it a nine-point game at the break. Senior Lucas Woodhouse hit a jumper just inside the arc at the buzzer to cap off the run.

The Seawolves continued the strong play in the second half, going on a 14-2 run to get back within two with 13:21 left to play.

Stony Brook went on to tie the game on two occasions and remained within a possession for the majority of the remainder of the game, but Vermont was always able to answer. Both teams struggled from the field in closing minutes of the game and the Seawolves were forced to foul in the final minute.

FROM THE CHARITY STRIPE

Senior Lucas Woodhouse is fourth in the nation from the free throw line, shooting 93-percent from the line on the year. Woodhouse made 30 consecutive free throws to begin conference play.

Earlier in the year against Northeastern, Woodhouse went 8-for-8 in the final 1:38 of the win before setting a new career best the next game with 12 makes on 12 attempts against Lehigh.

As a team, the Seawolves are shooting 73.4 from the line, good for 69th in the country.

HELPING HAND

Woodhouse currently leads the America East and is tied for 42nd in the nation with 5.1 assists per game. Woodhouse also sits at 24th in the country in assist-turnover ratio (3.00) while the team ranks 40th (1.30). Against Vermont, Woodhouse dished out five assists and did not commit a turnover. This marks the fourth time this season he has not had a turnover while tallying at least four assists.

CLEAN PLAY

Stony Brook has limited itself in turnovers all season, keeping the number in single digits on nine occasions. The Seawolves are tied for 29th in the nation in turnover margin (3.1). They have committed more turnovers than their opponent just twice this year. Stony Brook most recently had just nine mishaps against Vermont.
