Stony Brook, N.Y. – Stony Brook men's soccer fell vs. Vermont, 2-1, in America East action on Wednesday night at LaValle Stadium. With the loss, the Seawolves fall to 6-4-3 (0-2-1 AEC) so far in 2017.
Senior forward
Vince Erdei (Budapest, Hungary) scored the team's lone goal, score No. 22 of his collegiate career.
Final: Vermont 2, Stony Brook 1
- Sophomore goalkeeper Jacob Braham (Cortlandt, N.Y.) made five total saves.
- Geo Alves got UVM on the board with 4:51 remaining in the first half, collecting a pass from Dadi Halldorsson in the middle of the box and tapping it into a wide open goal to make it 1-0.
- Justin Freitas extended the Catamounts lead to 2-0 at 54:19. Jon Arnar Barddal received a pass off the restart, then crossed it out in front the goal to Freitas who put it home to give UVM a two-goal lead.
- Erdei tallied his eighth goal of the season at 64:59. Following a Vermont hand ball inside the box, the senior forward found the back of the net on a penalty kick to make it 2-1. Erdei attempted a team-high four shots on the night, two on goal.
- Stony Brook recorded 13 total shots, while Vermont attempted 17. The program attempted four corners, while the Catamounts recorded just one.
