Quoting Head Coach Brendan Faherty
"I'm really happy... we have a resilient group. To rebound from our last loss with six goals today and a really dominating performance on both sides of the ball, I'm really happy for our players. It's been a big weekend for the athletic department this weekend with Homecoming, so to do our part and come away with a win is great."

Final: Stony Brook 6, UMBC 1
  • Alyssa Francese (Yorktown Heights, N.Y.) made it 1-0 Seawolves 10:13 into action. Fanny Gotesson (Varnamo, Sweden) received a pass from Chase Rome (Mulino, Ore.) on the left side of the field, then played the ball into Francese from 20 yards out. The freshman was there, one-timing the ball into the back of the net for her seventh goal of the 2017 season.
  • Stony Brook scored again at 36:29, as Manuela Corcho (Norwalk, Conn.) tallied her first score of the season to extend the lead to two goals. Jordyn Klapper (Wantagh, N.Y.) ripped a shot of the top bar, which redirected to Corcho in front of the net. The senior forward was there, tapping in the rebound for the goal.
  • Samantha Goodwin (Westbury, N.Y) grabbed her second score of the season at 50:22, extending the Seawolves' lead to three goals. The senior located a cross from Kaitlin Loughren (Huntington, N.Y.), then poked it in for the goal.
  • Francese added her second goal of the day just 28 seconds later. UMBC committed a foul inside the box, and the freshman netted the penalty kick to extend Stony Brook's lead to four.
  • The Seawolves' fifth goal came at 76:31, as Michaela Goglia (Bristol, R.I.) notched her first goal of the season on a pass from Sophia Morell (Berlin, Conn.) to make it 6-1.
  • Freshman goalkeeper Sofia Manner (Helsinki, Finland) made 3 saves on the afternoon, earning her seventh win of 2017. Cara Gallagher (Massapequa, N.Y.) and Shannon Robinson (Stony Point, N.Y.) both came off the bench and logged just over 14 minutes in goal, helping preserve the win.
