STONY BROOK, N.Y – Stony Brook women's soccer fell vs. Albany, 1-0, on Thursday night at LaValle Stadium. With the loss, the Seawolves fall to 8-9-0 (4-3-0 AEC) in 2017.
Despite the loss, Stony Brook has still officially clinched a spot in the America East Championship tournament. The Seawolves join New Hampshire, Binghamton, Hartford and Albany as the five programs that have officially clinched a spot in postseason play.

"I thought we created some quality chances tonight. Credit to Albany, I thought they were very dangerous on restarts – they scored a goal off a restart. Overall, it's a game we probably let slip away, but I think it's a game we can build from."

- Stony Brook honored its six seniors (Christen Cahill, Manuela Corcho, Samantha Goodwin, Franki Priore, Shannon Robinson, Sydney Vaughn) for Senior Day in a pre-game ceremony. The Seawolves' senior class helped the team reach America East postseason play last year for the first time since 2013, and have again guided the program to another postseason appearance this year.
- Albany's goal came in the 35th minute, as Caroline Kopp blasted in her first goal of the season from about 30 yards out to make it 1-0 Great Danes.
- The Seawolves tallied 15 total shots to Albany's 13. Stony Brook also attempted five corner kicks.
- Priore and Kimmy Chavkin (Franklin, N.J.) both attempted a team-high three shots in the loss.
- Senior Shannon Robinson (Stony Point, N.Y.) started the game in goal for Stony Brook, recording two saves in the first half. Freshman Sofia Manner (Helsinki, Finland) played the final 45 minutes of action in goal, making three stops in total.
