Game Recap: Men's Soccer |

Seawolves score four goals, cruise past Sacred Heart in final non-conference game

Stony Brook, N.Y. – Stony Brook men's soccer scored a season-high four goals on Tuesday night at LaValle Stadium, cruising past Sacred Heart, 4-1, in its final non-conference contest of the season. With the victory, the Seawolves improve to 6-2-3 (0-0-1 AEC) in 2017.

Quoting Head Coach Ryan Anatol
"A little bit of a slow start… but I thought we responded well to it. Really good performance in the second half, I thought we were really good defensively, we created a lot in the attack, and then we finished our chances. That was the big difference tonight. To be able to come out and score four goals, I was really happy to get a good win."

Final: Stony Brook 4, Sacred Heart 1
  • Sacred Heart scored the game's first goal 13:31 into action, as Dylan Santos found the back of the net off a restart from Oscar Curras to make it 1-0 Pioneers.
  • The Seawolves responded just before the half, as senior forward Vince Erdei (Budapest Hungary) blasted a penalty kick into the back of the net to tie the game. The goal is Erdei's sixth of the 2017 season, and 20th career score with the program.
  • Erdei made it 2-1 in the 50th minute, one-timing a pass from Robin Bjornholm-Jatta (Trondheim, Norway) into the back of the net for his 21st career goal. Jarred Dass (Marabella, Trinidad) was credited with an assist on the play, as well.
  • Danny Espinoza (East Meadow, N.Y.) grabbed his second career goal in the 59th minute. The senior received a pass from Mark Irvine (Southhampton, England) inside the box, evaded a Sacred Heart defender and placed the ball into the left side of the net to extend Stony Brook's lead to 3-1.
  • Dass then scored the first goal of his career in the 80th minute, blasting a lead pass from Chris McAuliff (Sayville, N.Y.) into goal to increase the Seawolves' lead to four goals.
  • Sophomore goalkeeper Jacob Braham (Cortlandt, N.Y.) recorded four saves, earning his first win of the 2017 season in the process.
  • Stony Brook outshot Sacred Heart 13-11. The program has now attempted double-digit shots in nine of 11 games this year.
  • The last time the Seawolves scored four goals in a game was on Sept. 23, 2014 at Sacred Heart.
