STONY BROOK, N.Y. – Stony Brook women's basketball continues non-conference play at Island Federal Credit Union Arena on Sunday, Nov. 26, hosting Wagner at 4 p.m.
 
Last Time Out
  • Stony Brook women's basketball continued its historic start to the 2017-18 season on Wednesday, Nov. 22 at Island Federal Credit Union Arena, topping Farmingdale State, 76-25, to improve to 4-0 to begin a season for the first time since the 1997-98 season. This is the first time Stony Brook has won four-straight contests to begin the year in the Division I era.
  • With the win, head coach Caroline McCombs now has 50 career wins as head coach of the Seawolves' program. McCombs guided the program to 17 wins in 2014-15, 17 victories in 2015-16, 12 wins in 2016-17, and four-straight victories to begin the 2017-18 campaign.
  • Freshman Jonae Cox (Portsmouth, Va.) recorded a game-high 14 points, shooting 4-for-8 from 3-point range.
  • Senior Aaliyah Worley (Philadelphia, Pa.) scored a season-high 13 points, shooting 5-of-6 from the field.
Scouting Wagner
  • The Seahawks are 1-5 so far in 2017-18, most recently falling at Albany on Wednesday, Nov. 22.
  • Sierra Clark has paced Wagner offensively, recording 17.6 points per contest to date to go along with 8.6 rebounds and a .471 shooting percentage.
  • Stony Brook is 2-1 all-time vs. Wagner. The Seawolves won the latest matchup between the two programs, 73-62, on Dec. 18, 2015.
 Head Coach Caroline McCombs
  • Caroline McCombs enters her fourth season as the head coach of the Stony Brook women's basketball team in 2017-18, as the Seawolves head coach has risen among the winningest coaches in Stony Brook's Division I era.
  • With four victories to begin the 2017-18 season, McCombs has now won 50 games on Long Island – which ranks second among Stony Brook coaches in the Division I era. McCombs guided the Seawolves' program to 17 wins in 2014-15, 17 victories in 2015-16, and 12 wins in 2016-17.
Daunting Defense
Stony Brook has allowed just 46.0 points per contest, which ranks No. 3 in the nation entering Wednesday's action. Opponents have shot just 31.4 percent from the floor vs. the Seawolves, which ranks 13th lowest in the country.
 
Elite from the Field
The Seawolves have shot 47.4 percent  from the floor over the first four contests of the season, which ranks No. 30 nationally.

Preseason Poll
The Seawolves have been selected to finish No. 8 in the 2017-18 America East Women's Basketball Coaches' Poll, as announced by the conference on Oct. 19, 2017. Stony Brook received 16 total votes in the poll. New Hampshire was voted as the unanimous league favorite, garnering 64 total votes.
