ITHACA, N.Y. – Stony Brook women's basketball aims to defend its five-game winning streak on Friday, Dec. 1, traveling to Cornell for a 7 p.m. non-conference contest.

Last Time Out

• Stony Brook women's basketball continued its undefeated start to the 2017-18 season on Sunday, Nov. 26 at Island Federal Credit Union Arena, topping Wagner, 69-50, in non-conference action.
• With the win, the Seawolves improved to 5-0 to begin season. The last time the program won five-straight contests to begin a season was in 1992-93.
• Cheyenne Clark (Deptford, N.J) led the way for the Seawolves, recording a season-high 15 points and 12 rebounds. Clark shot 5-of-12 from the floor while also sinking five foul shots in the win. The junior transfer is now averaging a team-best 8.8 rebounds per contest.
• Shania Johnson (Frederick, M.D.) chipped in with 14 points, six rebounds and four assists of her own. Johnson sunk a team-best four 3-pointers for the Seawolves.
• India Pagan (New London, Conn.) recorded a career-high 12 points and four assists.

Scouting Cornell

• The Big Red are 1-5 to begin the 2017-18 season, most recently falling to Lafayette, 59-58, on Nov. 28. Cornell's lone win of the season came at Canisius on Nov. 22.
• Samantha Widman leads the way for Cornell, scoring 15.8 points per contest so far this year.
• The Seawolves are 3-1 vs. Cornell in the program's Division I history. Stony Brook outlasted the Big Red, 66-65, when the two program's met last on Dec. 30, 2016 at Island Federal Credit Union Arena.

 Head Coach Caroline McCombs

• Caroline McCombs enters her fourth season as the head coach of the Stony Brook women's basketball team in 2017-18, as the Seawolves head coach has risen among the winningest coaches in Stony Brook's Division I era.
• With five victories to begin the 2017-18 season, McCombs has now won 51 games on Long Island – which ranks second among Stony Brook coaches in the Division I era. McCombs guided the Seawolves' program to 17 wins in 2014-15, 17 victories in 2015-16, and 12 wins in 2016-17.

Daunting Defense
Stony Brook has allowed just 46.8 points per contest, which ranks No. 3 in the nation entering Wednesday's action. Opponents have shot just 32.5 percent from the floor vs. the Seawolves, which ranks 14^th lowest in the country.

The Seawolves have shot 47.4 percent from the floor over the first four contests of the season, which ranks No. 22 nationally.
 
Rebound Margin
The Seawolves currently own a +8.8 rebound margin, which ranks best of any America East program and No. 49 nationally.

Preseason Poll
The Seawolves have been selected to finish No. 8 in the 2017-18 America East Women's Basketball Coaches' Poll, as announced by the conference on Oct. 19, 2017. Stony Brook received 16 total votes in the poll. New Hampshire was voted as the unanimous league favorite, garnering 64 total votes.
