Game Recap: Men's Basketball |

Seawolves roll by Binghamton, 76-55

STONY BROOK, N.Y. – The Stony Brook men's basketball team capped off regular season play at Island Federal Credit Union Arena in a big way, topping Binghamton 76-55 Saturday night. Prior to the team's sixth-straight victory, the Seawolves honored seniors Kameron Mitchell, Lucas Woodhouse and manager Mollie Henry. Stony Brook improved to 17-10 on the season and 12-2 in America East play, while Binghamton droped to 12-17 overall and 3-11 in the league.

Boals' Reaction
"All year long this crowd has been phenomenal. This entire community, the students, band and cheer, it was a phenomenal atmosphere to send two seniors out the right way in our last regular season game here," said head coach Jeff Boals. "I really liked that we got out to a great start in both halves. We didn't want to give them any confidence. I was really proud of our balance and depth tonight. That type of balance where no one cares who scores, as long as Stony Brook scores, you are going to win a lot of games doing that.

Highlights
  • The Seawolves came out with a lot of energy and senior Kameron Mitchell (Jacksonville, Fla.) gave them a spark with an early steal and wide-open dunk in transition.
  • Junior UC Iroegbu (Sacramento, Calif.) checked in and knocked down back-to-back threes to keep the lead in Stony Brook's favor nearing the midway point in the half.
  • Senior Lucas Woodhouse (Greenlawn, N.Y.) sent up a pass to junior Junior Saintel (Mays Landing, N.J.) who threw down his 23rd dunk of the season and capped off an 11-2 run for the Seawolves that put them up double figures.
  • Stony Brook continued to push and took a 14-point lead into the break.
  • The Seawolves opened the second half on a 14-2 run and never looked back, leading by more than 20 points for the majority of the second half.
Notes
  • Redshirt freshman Akwasi Yeboah (Chigwell, England) and junior Tyrell Sturdivant helped lead the way as they returned to double figures with 19 and 10 points, respectively.
  • The Seawolves limited themselves to 10 turnovers for the 17th time this season.
  • The 21-point differential is Stony Brook's largest margin of victory this season.
  • At halftime of the game, Stony Brook retired Jameel Warney's No. 20 jersey.
