Queens, N.Y. -–The Stony Brook men's lacrosse team improved to 2-0 after coming from behind and taking down St. John's 14-5 Sunday afternoon.

- Stony Brook got off to a slow start going down 4-0 at the end of the first quarter.
- Freshman Cory VanGinhoven (Fort Mill, N.C.) would put Stony Brook on the board with 12:38 left in the second quarter.
- Junior Derek Lloyd (Calgary, Alberta) scored his first goal of the season on a man- up opportunity to cut St. John's lead in half.
- Senior Ryan Bitzer (Riverhead, N.Y) fed freshman Connor Grippe (Setauket, N.Y.) for a man-up goal to make it 3-4 St. John's.
- Freshman Wayne White (Huntington, N.Y.) tied it up 4-4 on a man-up opportunity.
- VanGinhoven picked up his second goal and put the lead in Stony Brook's favor the first time.
- Freshman Tom Haun (Sachem, N.Y.) added a goal with 12 minutes left in the third quarter to take the lead to 6-4.
- Senior Alex Corpolongo (Purdys, N.Y) and sophomore defenseman James Gerstner (Albertson, N.Y.) both added goals to increase the lead to 8-4.
- Bitzer fed Corpolongo for his second goal and Stony Brook went up 9-4.
- Five more players added goals in the Seawolves' fourth-quarter scoring spree.
Notes
- Junior Brandon Maciejewski (Penn Yan, N.Y.) picked up his second win of the year, only allowing four goals and totaled nine saves.
- James Gerstner (Albertson, N.Y.) and Chris Pickel Jr. (Bayport, N.Y.) tallied their first goals of their career.
- Bitzer, Llyod, and Matt Robison (Franklin Square, N.Y) picked up their first goals of the season.
- The Seawolves are, 7-10 on man -up opportunities this season and 5-5 today.
- Stony Brook was, 5-6 in face offs in the second quarter.
- The Seawolves scored 14 unanswered goals.
