Providence, R.I. -–The Stony Brook men's lacrosse team improved to 3-0 after upsetting No. 10/9 Brown 25-17 Saturday Feb. 25
th at Stevenson-Pincince Field.

Highlights
- The last time the Seawolves beat a top ten-team was in the 2008 season.
- Stony Brook got off to a quick start going up 8-0 in the first quarter.
- Alex Corpolongo (Purdys, N.Y.) scored the first goal of the game on a man-up opportunity at 13:02. Jeff Reh (Sound Beach, N.Y.) added a goal. Ryan Bitzer (Riverhead, N.Y.) put away two more to extend the lead. Freshman Cory VanGinhoven (Fort Mill, N.C.) and Tom Haun (Sachem, N.Y.) also contributed adding three and one, respectively.
- Brown picked up their first goal at 13:52 in the second quarter and added three more trailing, Stony Brook 8-3.
- VanGinhoven ended the lull for the Seawolves with 5:09 left in the second half. Brown was able to tack on another goal but VanGinhoven responded with his fifth score of the game.
- Brown scored two goals before the half to cut Stony Brook's lead to 10-6.
- The Bears scored on a man up opportunity within the first minute of the third quarter and then again at 13:52.
- Jay Lindsay (Burlington, Ontario) responded and increased the Stony Brook lead to 11-8. Brown added another goal before the Seawolves tacked on two more goals.
- Brown broke up a pair of three-goal runs by the Seawolves late in the third quarter.
- Brown and Stony Brook each added six goals in fourth quarter.
Notes
- Stony Brook only has one other career victory over a top ten-team, which was March 16, 2008 over No. 7 Delaware.
- The Seawolves 25 goals, ties the Division-I record of goals scored in one game. The last time this was done was March 1, 2000, in a 25-1 win over Wagner.
- VanGinhoven scored five goals in the first half and finished with seven, which is third-most goals a Stony Brook player has scored in one game.
- Tyler Anderson (Wading River, N.Y.) and Lindsay scored their first goals of the year.
- Nine different Seawolves recorded goals.
- Brandon Maciejewski (Penn Yan, N.Y.) improves to 3-0 with five saves on 22 shots.
