THE OPPONENT

UMBC sits at 17-10 on the season and 8-6 in the America East. The Retrievers boast a 9-4 record at home this season and are coming off of a 108-102 win over UMass Lowell at RAC Arena on Saturday. Will Darley led four players in double figures with 38 points and went 10-for-12 from beyond the arc. Prior to the victory, UMBC dropped its pervious three outings.

Jairus Lyles ranks second in the conference in scoring (18.8), and first in steals (1.8).  As a team, the Retrievers rank top 50 in the nation in five different categories. They are seventh in the nation in 3-point field goal percentage (41.0) and 15th in threes per game (9.9).

THE SERIES

Stony Brook leads the all-time series with the Retrievers 23-8. The Seawolves took the first meeting on Jan. 7, 2004, 61-56, in Stony Brook, and have claimed each of the last 18 matchups. Earlier this year, the Seawolves topped UMBC 83-73 at home. Senior Lucas Woodhouse led four players in double figures for Stony Brook, as it led by double figures for most of the game. The Retrievers went on a big run to start the second half and get back within single digits. They made it a one-point game midway through the second half, but Stony Brook was able to return the difference to double figures in the closing minutes.

The Seawolves sit at 9-4 all-time against UMBC in Baltimore.

LAST TIME OUT

Stony Brook notched its longest winning streak of the season as it knocked off Binghamton 76-55 on Senior Night Saturday evening. The Seawolves came out with a lot of energy and senior Kameron Mitchell gave them a spark with an early steal and wide-open dunk in transition.

Junior UC Iroegbu checked in and knocked down back-to-back threes to keep the lead in Stony Brook's favor nearing the midway point in the half.

Senior Lucas Woodhouse sent up a pass to junior Junior Saintel who threw down his 23rd dunk of the season and capped off an 11-2 run for the Seawolves that put them up double figures. Stony Brook continued to push and took a 14-point lead into the break.

The Seawolves opened the second half on a 14-2 run and never looked back, leading by more than 20 points for the majority of the second half.

HIGH PERFORMANCE WEEK

Junior Roland Nyama has been hot for the Seawolves as of late. After a strong second half to help Stony Brook top Albany on the road, he responded in the quick turnaround with a then-season best 19 points to lead the Seawolves past UMass Lowell just two days later. He closed out the week as the catalyst for Stony Brook against Maine, scoring 16 of his career-best 26 points in the first half and sealed the victory, making a free throw with 0.5 left on the clock to put the Seawolves up one. Nyama was named America East Player of the Week for the first time in his career for his outstanding play.

TWENTY-PLUS

Senior Lucas Woodhouse has been a leader for the Seawolves all season, especially on the offensive end. He recently strung together four-straight 20-plus points games against the top five teams in the America East. Woodhouse has surpassed the 20-point mark seven times this season.

FROM THE CHARITY STRIPE

Woodhouse is tied for 14th in the nation and leads the league from the free throw line, shooting 90-percent from the line on the year. Woodhouse made 30 consecutive free throws to begin conference play.

Earlier in the year against Northeastern, Woodhouse went 8-for-8 in the final 1:38 of the win before setting a new career best the next game with 12 makes on 12 attempts against Lehigh.

HELPING HAND

Woodhouse currently leads the America East and is tied for 28th in the nation with 5.5 assists per game. Woodhouse also sits at 23rd in the country in assist-turnover ratio (2.8) while the team ranks 52nd (1.27). Against Vermont, Woodhouse dished out five assists and did not commit a turnover. This marked the fourth time this season he did not have a turnover while tallying at least four assists.

CLEAN PLAY

Stony Brook has limited itself in turnovers all season, keeping the number in single digits on 11 occasions. The Seawolves are 24th in the nation in turnover margin (3.2). They have committed more turnovers than their opponent on just three occasions this year. Stony Brook most recently had just nine mishaps at Hartford.

No. 20 RETIRED

At halftime of the game against Binghamton, Stony Brook retired Jameel Warney's No. 20 jersey. The winningest player in program history, Warney is the all-time leader at Stony Book in points, rebounds, blocks and games played. He helped the Seawolves to a regular season and tournament conference championship in his final season, concluding his career with the program's first Division I NCAA Tournament appearance.
