MALIBU, Calif. – With a blizzard forecast to hit the Northeast in the next few days, the Stony Brook baseball team picked a good week for a four-game road trip to sunny Southern California.
The Seawolves (4-9) begin the road swing on Tuesday when they face Pepperdine (6-7) at 6 p.m. ET at Eddy D. Field Stadium.
Scouting the Seawolves
- Stony Brook enters the week with a .249 team batting average and a 6.59 team ERA.
- Senior CF Toby Handley (Whitby, Ontario) is climbing up the Stony Brook Division I record book in a few career categories and enters the week ranked tied for sixth in career triples with 11, fifth in stolen bases with 38 and sixth in walks with 78. Fellow 1B/RF Casey Baker (Ronkonkoma, N.Y.) is also tied for sixth in triples with 11 and tied for 10th in walks with 67.
- Stony Brook as a team is 13-15 in stolen base attempts, including a perfect 5-5 by freshman DH Michael Wilson (Colonia, N.J.).
Scouting the Waves
- Pepperdine, a member of the West Coast Conference, is 6-7 overall this season after being swept by California this past weekend.

Series History
Stony Brook and Pepperdine meet for the just the fourth time. The Waves own 2-1 series lead by taking two-of-three during a series in Malibu back in 2010.
