MALIBU, Calif. – Freshman DH
Michael Wilson (Colonia, N.J.), sophomore 2B
Brandon Janofsky (Jackson, N.J.) and senior 1B
Casey Baker (Ronkonkoma, N.Y.) each collected two of the Stony Brook baseball team's nine hits and a Seawolves' ninth inning rally came up just short in a 4-3 loss to host Pepperdine on Tuesday evening at Eddy D. Field Stadium.
The Seawolves (4-10) trailed the Waves (7-7) 4-1 entering the ninth inning and plated a pair of runs on a Baker double and a bases loaded walk by senior C
David Real (Chandler, Ariz.), but Stony Brook had the bases loaded when the final out was recorded. An RBI single by Wilson in the sixth inning accounted for the Seawolves' other run.
Freshman RHP
Brian Herrmann (Northport, N.Y.) and redshirt freshman RHP
Greg Marino (Centereach, N.Y.) combined to allow Pepperdine just five hits. Each pitched four innings in the loss.
Turning Point
Pepperdine scored three runs in the fourth inning on just two hits, including a two-run infield single.
Quoting Head Matt Senk
"We left 15 runners on base, including the bases loaded three times. That was the unfortunate storyline of today's loss."
