SANTA BARBARA, Calif. – Stony Brook's baseball team wraps up its west coast road trip with a three-game series at UCSB this weekend.
The Seawolves (4-10) face the Gouchos (5-10) on Friday at 6 p.m. ET, Saturday at 5 p.m. ET and Sunday at 4 p.m. ET.
Scouting the Seawolves
- Stony Brook enters the weekend with a .250 team batting average and a 6.45 team ERA.
- Head coach Matt Senk, in his 27th season as skipper, is one victory away from 750 for his career.
- Senior CF Toby Handley (Whitby, Ontario) is climbing up the Stony Brook Division I record book in a few career categories and enters the weekend ranked tied for sixth in career triples with 11, fifth in stolen bases with 38 and sixth in walks with 80. Fellow 1B/RF Casey Baker (Ronkonkoma, N.Y.) is also tied for sixth in triples with 11 and 10th in walks with 68.
- Stony Brook as a team is 13-15 in stolen base attempts, including a perfect 5-5 by freshman DH Michael Wilson (Colonia, N.J.).
Scouting the Gouchos
- UCSB, a member of the Big West Conference, is 5-10 overall this season, having lost seven of their last eight games.
- The Gouchos enter the weekend with a .244 team batting average and a 5.66 team ERA.
- UCSB reached the College World Series in 2016 and finished the season with a 43-20-1 overall record.
Series History
This weekend will mark just the second, third and fourth meetings between Stony Brook and UCSB. The Gouchos claimed the only other meeting, 4-2, back on March 31, 2005 in Santa Barbara.
