RICHMOND, Va.  – Stony Brook placed 51 student-athletes on the CAA Football Academic All-Conference list, the most of any school, it was announced by the league on Thursday.
 
To be eligible for Academic All-Conference honors, student-athletes must hold a cumulative GPA of 3.00 or higher.
 
Among the Seawolves' list of 51 were second-team All-CAA Football selections Tyrice Beverette and Shayne Lawless. Both helped lead the Stony Brook defense be ranked among the best in the FCS in 2016.
 
Beverette led the Seawolves with 98 total tackles, the third most in the conference. He also posted 9.0 tackles for a loss, 4.5 sacks, forced four fumbles and intercepted four passes. Lawless recorded 78 total tackles with 45 solo stops. He also had 9.0 tackles for a loss and a forced fumble.
