STONY BROOK, N.Y. – Senior CF
Toby Handley (Whitby, Ontario) belted his third home run of the season, but it was not enough as the Stony Brook baseball team fell to visiting UAlbany 8-3 to open the America East Conference series at Joe Nathan Field on Saturday afternoon.
Handley's home run, over the left field fence, was a solo shot and and sophomore 2B
Brandon Janofsky (Jackson, N.J.) added a pair of hits for the Seawolves (8-14, 2-2 AE), while sophomore RF
Dylan Resk (Ardsley, N.Y.) and senior 1B
Casey Baker (Ronkonkoma, N.Y.) each drove in a run.
Turning Point
The Great Danes (9-9, 2-2 AE) plated a pair of unearned runs in the top of the first inning after a Stony Brook error that would have ended the inning. UAlbany also added two more runs in the top of the second inning that proved to be enough.
Quoting Head Coach Matt Senk
"The start is so important and we were out of the first inning and they ended up scoring two and got the momentum going for them and it just seemed like we were chasing it the rest of the game."
