BURLINGTON, Vt. - The No. 4 Stony Brook women's lacrosse team looks for its eighth-straight win with a trip to the Green Mountain State to face Vermont Friday afternoon.
Scouting the Catamounts
Vermont is 1-12 and 0-3 in the America East with the victory being a 17-10 triumph over St. Bonaventure March 23. The Catamounts are led by first-year head coach Sarah Dalton, who held the America East single-season goals record with 91 for Boston University in 2009 prior to
Courtney Murphy's 100-goal 2016 campaign.
Alison Bolt leads the Catamounts with 24 goals and 38 points, while Meredith Moore and Jenna Janes have also reached 30 points on the season. Bolt has chipped in 30 draw controls, 22 caused turnovers and 20 ground balls.
Series History vs. Vermont
Friday is the 15th all-time meeting between Stony Brook and Vermont with the Seawolves holding a 10-5 advantage. Vermont led 6-2 in the 2016 meeting at LaValle Stadium before Stony Brook went on a 16-0 run and won the game 19-8.
Kylie Ohlmiller had six goals and three assists in the 2016 matchup.
The 2017 meeting is the fourth in the last five years to be played in Burlington. Vermont is the most recent America East team to defeat Stony Brook, as the Catamounts grabbed an 8-7 overtime victory in Burlington April 26, 2014.
