Bret Clarke (Royersford, Pa.) and junior RHP
Aaron Pinto (West Covina, Calif.) combined to allow just one run on six hits to lead the Stony Brook baseball team to a 4-1 victory over host UMass Lowell in an America East Conference game on Saturday afternoon at LeLacheur Park.
The Seawolves' (17-16, 5-4 AE) pair also combined to strike out 11 River Hawks (18-13, 7-4 AE) in the victory. Clarke went 5.2 innings and allowed the run and six hits to pick up his second win of the season. Pinto tossed the final 3.1 innings and didn't allow a hit to earn Stony Brook's first save of the season.
Offensively, junior LF
Andruw Gazzola (Coram, N.Y.) collected three hits and extended his season-best hitting streak to 15 games, while junior 3B
Bobby Honeyman (Massapequa, N.Y.) also banged out three hits.
Turning Point
With the score knotted up 1-1 after each team scored a run in the third inning, Stony Brook retook the lead with a pair of runs in the fourth inning. Freshman DH
Michael Wilson (Colonia, N.J.) and sophomore C
Sean Buckhout (West Nyack, N.Y.) had RBI hits in the inning, while Gazzola and Wilson scored the runs.
