Resk belts 9th HR of season, but Seawolves drop both games of DH at Hartford

WEST HARTFORD, Conn.  – Sophomore RF Dylan Resk (Ardsley, N.Y.) belted his ninth home run of the season on Saturday afternoon, but the Stony Brook baseball team dropped both games of an America East Conference doubleheader to Hartford at Fiondella Field.
 
The Seawolves' (17-18, 5-6 AE) fell 7-3 in game one to the Hawks (13-19, 5-6 AE), while Hartford walked off with a 5-4 victory in the 10th inning of game two.
 
Game One Turning Point
After Stony Brook took a 3-0 lead in the top of the third inning, Hartford answered right back with five runs in the bottom half of the inning, including a grand slam by T.J. Ward.
 
Game Two Turning Point
Hartford walked-off with the victory in game two with a run in the bottom of the 10th inning after a leadoff walk came around to score on a one-out single.
 
Notes
  • The Seawolves dropped to 2-1 in extra inning games this season with the 10-inning loss in game two.
  • Junior LF Andruw Gazzola (Coram, N.Y.) singled in game one Saturday to extend his hitting streak to 16 straight games before ending the streak in game two.
  • Sophomore RF Dylan Resk (Ardsley, N.Y.) belted his ninth home run of the season and 11th of his career in the eighth inning of game two.
  • Senior CF Toby Handley (Whitby, Ontario) recorded three hits in game two for his fifth three-hit game of the season and 12th overall multi-hit game.
On Deck
Stony Brook and Hartford will wrap up the series with a single game at Noon on Sunday.
