Honeyman and Giles lead offensive attack in win at NYIT

OLD WESTBURY, N.Y. – Junior 3B Bobby Honeyman (Massapequa, N.Y.) and senior 2B Jeremy Giles (Claremont, Calif.) each drove in three of Stony Brook's 11-run offensive output on Tuesday afternoon in the Seawolves' 11-8 victory over NYIT at Angelo Lorenzo Field.

Honeyman belted his first home run of the season, a two-run shot in the third inning, and added a run-scoring single in the sixth, while Giles hit a bases-loaded triple in the fifth inning. Freshman RF Chris Hamilton (Schenectady, N.Y.) also added his first collegiate home run in the seventh inning.

Freshman RHP Brandon Bonanno (Mt. Sinai, N.Y.) earned his first collegiate victory on the mound for the Seawolves (21-21) after he pitched 3.0 innings in relief and allowed one run on two hits with three strikeouts. Junior LHP Teddy Rodliff (Quincy, Ma.) earned his first save of the season by pitching a scoreless ninth inning.

Turning Point
NYIT (3-34-1) took the lead in the bottom of the second inning, but Honeyman put the Seawolves on the board and gave Stony Brook the lead for good when he planted the first pitch he saw over the right field wall that also scored senior CF Toby Handley (Whitby, Ontario).

Quoting Head Coach Matt Senk
"Today's winds made for a very offensive day for our lineup led by (Toby) Handley getting on base multiple times, (Jeremy) Giles bases loaded triples and first of the year homeruns by (Bobby) Honeyman and Hamilton which for Chris was also the first of his college career."
