HANOVER, N.H. – Stony Brook women's soccer fell to Dartmouth, 2-1, on Sunday afternoon at Burnham Field in non-conference play. The Seawolves fall to 2-1-0 on the season with the loss, while Dartmouth improves to 2-0-0.
Kaitlin Loughren (Huntington, N.Y.) scored the Seawolves' lone goal – the first of her collegiate career – with just under four minutes remaining in the contest.
Quoting Head Coach Brendan Faherty
"Dartmouth provided a different test for our group in regards to their formation and their athleticism. I thought both teams found success in the middle of the field, but Dartmouth was better in both 18's. We have quite a few positives to take away from the game, but also areas where we can grow. We will regroup quickly as we have another tough test on Thursday against Boston College."
Final: Dartmouth 2, Stony Brook 1
- Loughren's goal came with 3:59 left in regulation. The junior fired a shot toward net from about 30 yards out, which hit the top bar and redirected over the goal line for the score. The junior now has one goal and two assists in her time at Stony Brook.
- Stony Brook tallied seven total shots, five in the second half.
- Freshman goalkeeper Sofia Manner (Helsinki, Finland) recorded four saves in net for the Seawolves in the loss.
