FAIRFIELD, Conn. – Stony Brook women's soccer won its second-straight contest on Friday afternoon, downing Sacred Heart, 4-0, to earn its fourth win of the season. With the victory, the Seawolves are 4-6-0 (0-0-0) so far in 2017.
Alyssa Francese (Yorktown Heights, N.Y.), Allyson Baner (Farmingdale, N.Y.), Chase Rome (Mulino, Ore.) and
Julie Johnstonbaugh (Neshanic Station, N.J.) all tallied goals for Stony Brook in the win.

I believe this result truly highlihgts the depth we have on our team, which will help us in America East games. We will enjoy this trip on the bus trip north, but tomorrow morning we will turn our attention to a very good Maine team."

- With the victory, Stony Brook finishes the 2017 non-conference portion of its schedule with four wins – the most victories in non-conference action for the program since the 2013 season.
- Francese scored the game's first goal, finding the back of the net in the fourth minute to make it 1-0. The freshman now has four goals in the past two games. Rachel Florenz (East Islip, N.Y.) earned an assist on the goal.
- Baner scored her first goal of the season at 22:24, heading in a cross from Samantha Goodwin (Westbury, N.Y.) to stretch Stony Brook's lead to two goals.
- Rome then made it 3-0 Seawolves, heading a ball into the back of the net from the right side of the field for her first-career goal. Kimmy Chavkin (Franklin, N.J.) was credited with an assist on the play.
- Johnstonbaugh scored her second goal of the season at 75:57, extending Stony Brook's lead to four goals. Chavkin earned her second helper of the contest on the goal.
- Freshman goalkeeper Sofia Manner (Helsinki, Finland) recorded one save over more than 80 minutes of action, while Cara Gallagher (Massapequa, N.Y.) finished the final 9:57 in goal. The shutout is Stony Brook's fourth of the 2017 season.
- Stony Brook held the advantage in shots, 13-4, while attempting five corner kicks in the win.
- With the victory, the Seawolves are now 3-3-2 all-time against Sacred Heart.
